Best resort in CR???
I would love opinions of the best, most luxurious resort in CR. The best meaning luxurious room, great food, beautiful beach, etc. Would it be the Four Seasons or are there some locally owned (which we would rather do) that are fantastic? Definitely on a great beach. Thanks!

What do you consider a great beach?
For me, a great beach is more than just white sand and teal blue water. If you are looking for that, there are other countries that would suit better. The beaches of Costa Rica are great to me for their diversity...some are great for surfing
,some for snorkling, some for wading around in tide pools, most are private with beautiful jungle surrounding them.
Opinions also vary greatly on what luxury means to people.
I can't stand "resorts" so I don't find them luxurious. I prefer smaller places where they know your name and actually put care into the details.

Some of the Small Distinctive Hotels of Costa Rica would be a good choice...

Florblaca and Capitan Suizo are both on the beach...
Cheers,

I'm with surfexec, I don't do resorts. I like places where the personal details add to the experience, not into the canned mega-resort thing myself.
Places like Bosque del Cabo are beautiful & luxurious to me. Walking down hundreds of steps (try not to think of the hike back up!) to the crashing Pacific, sitting on the beach for an hour & never seeing another soul is perfection to me.
