Best ATM and Tikal tour operators

In this forum's opinion, what is the best tour operator for ATM? I would like the tour provider to be reliable and safe. The same question goes for Tikal one day tour provider. Thanks in advance!

I used Maya Walk tours and they were great! I think they are one of the few allowed to take tours into ATM, there might be a couple more but I am not sure.

I also did the Tikal trip with Maya Walk and it was also excellent! I found their prices to be reasonable too.

Just used Mayawalk last week for ATM. Our guide was Ted. He was great. He was in the British army for 23 years before "retiring" to San Ignacio. He knew a lot about Maya history. Ask for Jimmy at Mayawalk and tell him Rex from Los Angeles sent you. Jimmy will take good care of you, they are flexible in their arrangements. We also used them for transporation to Tikal.

Thanks! Did you book your tour ahead of time while in the states or while in Belize?

I also used Mayawalk and was happy with them. We didn't book until we got there. It seemed like most people just booked the night before for the following day. Unless you'll be there at a very busy time of year, you should be OK. You will love both the ATM and Tikal (for totally different reasons!).

For the ATM tour, others have mentioned squeezing through tight spaces. My husband is 6'2" and has a 54" chest. Is this going to be a problem? We are going in April with our 2 boys and it sounds like a lot of fun!

No, I am a caver or spelunker as an avid hobby. The ATM tour has some areas that you climb through a few narrow passages but nothing that is tight. I am 6'2" and 280lbs and nothing came close to a squeeze. I think they describe it that way to easily eliminate people who question themselves or might be highly afraid of tight spaces.

It is a wonderful trip, I am going back on it for a second time in January.
