Dec holiday is the only time all 3 kids have overlapping vacations (new job, college & HS). Know it will be BUSY and pricey. Would the snorkling/diving down near Placencia be less crowded than say Caye Caulker? Already finding some lodgings full. I did like 4 days at Singing Sands in Caye Caulker, then a few days at Black Rock River Lodge. So used to CR in the quieter seasons, I'm spoiled!

I don't travel at that time but check out Pacz Tours for the ATM trip: http://www.pacztours.net/pages/tours/ATM.html We're headed back to Belize this summer to revisit some favorites (the zoo, San Ignacio, Tikal, Hopkins, Sittee River Village, Glover's Atoll) and hit some things we missed last time (Lamanai, ATM, Caye Caulker). No experience with Placencia but the snorkeling and diving is 10+ miles out from there. Don't know what your budget is but have you considered a smaller island or atoll?
