My husband and I are in our 60s and are going to be in BA from January to June in 2008. We want to attend classes to learn Spanish. Anyone out there who has gone to a school that you would recommend? We are also thinking of living with a family for at least our first month. Comments and advice are welcome!

I studied at Alem Spanish School and recommend it 100%. Excellent professors, very interesting classes- even at a beginners level. first rate school.

My husband and I are still trying to learn Spanish and we practice everyday because we have for the whole month of August our very own teachers of Spanish and Tango. I went to Alem too and loved it. I took history and lit with them and i love it nowwhen i can argue with the locals about their shady past!

Have you folks thought about Rosetta Stone? I puchased online the latest version for about US$125, which included all three discs. (look for Latin America version)

I've taken a couple of the lessons and have found the software very intuitive.

There's no sense waiting until you get there to try to learn Spanish.

Rastaguytoday, did you order your Rosette Stone from the company online or through ebay or criagslist? I bought one last week from craigslist and got a bootleg copy that won't work. Fortunaly I did not lose a fortune and learned a lesson. But I still want the Rosette Stone progam!!! I have seen levels 1,2 & 3 for around $550.00 new in stores. The small demo online is not quite enought for me to want to invest all that money. So how is it working for you? Is it worth the investment??

A friend loaned me the Rosetta Stone for French.I had no background in French and really found it hard going. I am not at all intuitive with languages but worked with the program and did "homework". I didn't get very far. My friend had some HS french and really found Rosetta Stone to be very user friendly and she did well with it. If I had invested $550 I would have been upset, for me the money would have been better invested with a tutor. Everyone has their own way of learning, Rosetta Stone wasn't mine. Just thought you would like that feedback before you invested.
