BA apt location - help from experts?

Am considering apt located on Juncal St. between Montevideo & Rod. Peña for 10-day rental around Christmas week & would welcome perspectives from anyone familiar with the area (advice from avrooster & dr dawggy was helpful in choosing Recoleta generally). Family of three (mom, dad & teenager) looking for neighborhood feel vs posh or glitz, local restaurants, decent access to public transportation. First time in BA. Many thanks.

The location sounds pretty good, but that obviously doesn't necessarily mean the apartment itself is good.

Public transportation (meaning buses) is widely available in the area, but the Recoleta is not close to the subway (which I hate in the summer, anyway).

Air conditioning would be a requirement, for that time of the year.

Have a great time in our town with your teenager.

Thank you, avrooster. Your point about apt itself vs location is well taken and I will look very carefully before making a final decision this week. Meanwhile, I noticed the posting today in connection with your original REAL Buenos Aires project; I too am wondering if you are still doing such a thing and, if so, whether there was chance we too might plug in in December. Sounds like exactly the kind of "tour" my teenager -- and his father -- would benefit from. Cheers.

Hi, brk01!

See my reply in the "The REAL Buenos Aires" thread.

Write to me when your travel dates are closer and we'll see how I can help you, your hubby and your teenager.

Cheers.

Avrooster: Thanks for your last response. After considering various alternatives, have gone ahead and booked apartment (Juncal between Montevideo & Rod. Pena) & will be in touch with you closer to December on "REAL Buenos Aires" -- and probably sooner via this board as I seek advice on itinerary. Tks again.
