Well the Grand Palladium is perfectly fine for families, great really, but it is not even in the same category as the other two. Depends on budget and wants really.

i figured as much, as the price for GP was at least 2-3K cheaper than Grand Velas and Azul five.

have you been to any of 3 resorts??

Grand Velas is tops, but there are NOT many activities for children there. It is also HUGE resort.

I've stayed at the GP twice and the kids loved it. Great kids club, good beach, small water park for littler kids. No reservations at a la cartes and they are unlimited. The Colonial is most central and recently renovated. We enjoyed it, but if I had extra, I would be going to GV.lol.

I have stayed at GP too.. and will be returning this june with our 11 yr old.. its a great resort with plenty to do and a nice kiddie pool ( with slides) near the main pool( so you adults can take turns watching kids) beach , washrooms and snack bar.

The Grand Velas sounds wonderful.. never been, its way out of our price point.. we'd rather go twice a year to a less expensive resort.. or to Europe( which we do every other year).. but if money is no object id love to try it.

Have been to Grand Velas. It is 5 star, top of the line, all restaurants are fantastic. You get to consume everything in minibar, including premium tequila bottle, as it is yours w the room. the spa is phenomenal, the 5 station water treatment, the massages, steam rms. The entrie place and experience is in a league of its own. But really just swimming for kids. Not a lot of kids there when we were there. Seems more of an adult environment, very refined and awesome.

We are considering the same question - grand velas or Azul and also have young kids (7 and 5). Why did you decide Azul and if you have gone yet how was it? we are concerned about the same types of things you would be, including kids activities. thanks.
