ATM's in Puerto Viejo

Are there ATM'S in Puerto Viejo? Or do we need to make sure we have enough cash before we get there?
We will be staying in Puerto Viejo for seven days.

Not true. As of two years ago, Puerto Viejo has a branch of Banco de Costa Rica. Its ATM gives cash against Visa/Plus cards only. The bank is right at the entrance to town.

youre right i just checked with a friend and there isa an ATM there now.
But, dont rely on ATMs in CR they frequently dont work!!

This thread makes me smile, remembering arriving on a Sunday last July and nothing was open. We were OUT of cash as the ATM on Bocas del Toro definitely did not work for us!

We were directed to a little "place" back over toward the beach off the main road and found someone doing business behind a desk. Not sure how it worked, but he took our ATM card and gave us some money! Charged us 9%. We got $300 for $327. But hey--we were desperate and more than HAPPY to pay the man!
