Is there an ATM in Montezuma, Costa Rica?

I found a map of Montezuma that indicates an ATM. However, I haven't been able to confirm it in any websites. Has anyone been there and used the ATM?

I spent two weeks in Playa Azul in 2004 and it was slim pickins for services of any kind. There nearest ATM was in Santa Elena. I would check with your hosts to find out where the nearest ATM is located. Whether it is working or not is another bit of info to gather.

Good one from personal experience.

Yes, I just got back from Montezuma Beach. The ATM is basically right across from Chico's. Only one in town though. Have fun, I love that place!

Thanks. It will be so nice not to have to go to the local bank and wait in line for an hour.

The one Montezuma ATM has dollar$ or colones. It's often empty, so don't think "I'll get some later", get it now. It's occasionally broken, but I haven't noticed that as much lately.

There are multiple ATMs at a Banco Nacional in Cobano (easy bus ride) if you get desperate. And a few others in Santa Teresa.

If you're switching buses in Cobano (or driving through) get some money then, just in case.

Get Colones, not dollars, the only thing I pay for in dollars is the hotel room. Otherwise if they charge dollars, they're charging too much or they're catering upscale (in which they are charging too much). There are a few exceptions, but I don't carry dollars, so I hate when places charge in dollars.

Be sure to let your bank know you'll be down there. Otherwise it could reject your card.

Gary,
Thanks for the info about ATMs in Cobano. It's good to know there's a backup if the one in Montezuma isn't working.
