We must have the same taste in travel. I took my then 12 year old son to the Towers and this was the most memorable trip of all time besides Africa. The monkeys and birds are extremely friendly! The excursions are a bit rehearsed, but still amazing!!!!! We stayed in their finest rooms, so I don't know what the lower end rooms are like. It is really kid friendly, just be careful on the jungle hike, the ants are vicious and could really hurt a younger child. Pants tucked in socks even though it's hot! 3 days is plenty! Next time I might take a boat trip up the Amazon with stops at various lodges. The deeper you go, the more interesting I hear. Good luck.

With kids, the Ariau Tower might work. We went on one of the Amazon Clipper cruises instead (after it was described in Frommers as "Disneyesque" and were very pleased with it. We actually canoed through the Towers one evening and I decided I was glad we hadn't stayed since it was so large and looked a bit worn. I have to say, the monkeys were great, though. And I suspect that being on a small boat for 4 days wouldn't appeal to teens.

We were there about 3yrs ago. I have nothing in the Amazon to compare it to but the kids I saw really seemed to find it interesting. Don't even think about getting a room w/o air conditioning. We were there in July and the humidity was oppressive--and I live in Atlanta!
I think if I were to go back, I would look for a place deeper into the Amazon Rain Forest. I was disappointed to realize we were not as far from civilization as I expected.
That said, it wasn't bad by any means and we had a good experience there. 3 days was plenty--think you could do everything in 2 but double check the packages and compare.
