Cabin choices

Identical itinerary, would you choose a balcony on a smaller ship or inside on the larger ship?
We usually just do guarantee category, but with others going on a smaller ship, would you risk it?
To save $350.00, would you do 2 adults and 1 child in a balcony, or 1 adult and 1 child in a balcony and 1 adult in an inside?

Personally I'd go for a balcony any day. Pleasant place to sit and relax, or watch the hustle and bustle of docking in a port, or just looking at the scenery.
However, I'd consider the age of the child - very easy for a small child to scramble on a chair and balance on the rail.

Marg, thanks so much.

I just booked a couple of minutes ago and we went with balconies on the smaller ship.

The child has been on 3 cruises, just not with a balcony before. We all worried before, so her Mom did insides, and you are right. As soon as she came into the cabin with a balcony, she climbed on a chair. After we talked with her, she was really good and sat on the floor. She was 6 then. Now she is 8 and we think she is mature enough now to mind us. I am still nervous, but we will watch her like a hawk. With a total of 4 adults, I think we can stay on top of things. She will probably be in the kids programs much of the time.

Hope I am doing the best thing.

as for cabins? I rather take the basement, to me I do not care to see water ever, its so much cheaper to go this way but then again you just never know.. I also liked the trip we went to Rhine River last July it was quite hot but we had a nice time otherwise. I also want to tell you that paying for a Franch Balcony is such a waste of good money you are never in the room besides sleeping if that. or showering. I enjoyed the movies and had a great time I only want to do Viking cause its the prices that I can deal with.

by the way Viking does not allow any children under the age of 12 without special permission there is NO children policy on their rooms, there is only one queen sized bed no bed for kids.

Thank you, Moonlight,
We are not into river cruises, almost always have our little Granddaughter with us, and love seeing water - the reason for being on a ship. We love days at sea. We do take inside cabins sometimes, to save money, but spend most of our time outside. We enjoyed eating out on our balcony and watching the sunrise and sunset from our balcony on our last cruise.
