There are also second floor rooms if you want some extra assurance. We had coatis running around freely in front of our room. Much cuter than pit vipers.

I looked back at the pics that the lodge sent me. I'm in the annex building where the Smithsonian rooms with decks are located. It looks like the decks are raised up a few feet above the ground, so that is assuring. I'm looking forward to seeing the eyelash vipers, like you did, on the hikes. Just not on my deck.

The eyelash vipers we saw were wrapped up in the tree trunks. Just don't grab anything while hiking without looking first...they really blend well!

m, those are probably the same two that we saw. I get the feeling the guides know exactly where to look for them!
