Appropriate clothing in NW Mexico

In October, we will be spending 12 days travelling in MW Mexico: Los Mochis, El Fuerte, Divisadero, Creel, Basaseachi, Chihuahua, Mata Ortiz, Casas Grandes. My husband, who is often warm, would like to wear shorts, but not if it would be considered disespectful or inappropriate. Any thoughts?

It sounds like you are going on the same Road Scholars trip I did in April. Shorts would be appropriate in all places, but remember that in Creel you will be at 7,700 ft. and it might be cold. The end of April I used the roomheaters in most of the hotels. Los Mochis and El Fuerte will be hot, but take bug spray.

Yes, we are going on the Road Scholar trip. In fact, you were kind enough to answer an email from me in August. How much cash did you need? The tour company told us that, although there are ATMs, they're usually out of money!

I didn't convert dollars into pessos but took ones and fives. How much you take really depends on how much you plan on buying from the natives. From El Fuerte until Chihuahua there were Taramarah women literally everywhere all with baskets, pots. etc. Some of our group bought lots and lots. I didn't. In Mata Ortiz I bought some pots and was able to use my credit card. I think we had two dinners on our own and they were relatively inexpensive.
