I can't believe I was the only one to see that. BTW, I called home with my AT&T phone from the tops of temples at Xunantunich and Tikal-excellent reception there!

We just got back from staying at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya and used our verizon cell phone without too many problems. It was $.99 a minute but cheaper than using the phone from our room.

With Verizon I call and receive from almost anywhere in Mexico that has reception. Call your carrier beforehand and tell them you want your phone to work there. You will need ot dial 001 before the area code when dialing the States , or 01 when callin a Mexican number.
