My husband & I went to CSL last June. We loved it. We stayed at the Finnisterra for 4 nights, then went over to the Fiesta Americana in Los Cabos for 4 nights. We ate at the Crazy Lobster and the Sleepless Lobster for breakfsat & dinner. Very good & cheap. We went on the Jungle Cruise which was a blast. We did not go Deep Sea Fishing because the winds were unusually high. I do not know if we would return, but we did enjoy it.

Margo which Cabo were you in. There is no jungel in CSL it is one big dusty arid dry cactus field. Maybe you consider the greenery of man made golf courses a jungle? The only reason they put the darn courses in is so they can sell develope the land around it and sell the lots that is where the money is made. Did you ever ask why it cost $220 to golf?
Cabo is all about extracting Gringo GREENBACKS. Out of your Pocket into Theirs. The price of a soft drink in the grocery store is $2 and a package of cookies $7. Janey go to Frommers and read Mexico Beware there are some good photos of the place make your own conclusions.
We call IT anything for a buck .

Is this your first trip to Mexico? If so, you may enjoy Cabo. We have been there several times but after the last trip two years ago, decided we would not return. But if it had been our first trip, perhaps we wouldn't have been so annoyed with everything.

The time share sellers, beach peddlers were so persistant that we just couldn't relax. You cannot sit on the beach and enjoy a drink because you are constantly accosted by people. Walking anywhere is a nightmare because there are so many time share people. You learn to just walk past but it makes it less than relaxing.

We also found that prices had risen sharply and service had deteriorated. We seemed to be paying Honolulu prices but it isn't quite the same as Hawaii.

Our hotel for example, despite prepayment and confirmation had no rooms for us and we spent the better part of our first day arguing with them. We were double charged for room services because we paid in cash and also had it charged back to our room. These were just two of daily hassles with our hotel.

I know our experience was extreme but I still wonder if you might not consider someplace that is less commercial in Mexico, if there is one anymore.

BTW, I have never heard of a "jungle cruise" either. Cabo is smack in the middle of the desert.

Lots of growth in the past few years has resulted in some growing pains. If you stay in Cabo San Lucas, you'll find the rowdy bars, etc. If you stay along the corridor or in San Jose del Cabo, it's a much different experience. Most of the vendor / timeshare stuff happens directly in Cabo San Lucas (and at the airport). There are some beach vendors along the corridor beaches but a polite no thanks is all that's needed.

For things to do, I recommend driving to Todos Santos (during the daylight because it's open range). Eat at the Santa Fe cafe when there (it's Italian). Visit the original glass factory on the way to Todos Santos (not the one on the corridor). For dinner, La Republica in Cabo San Lucas is great. Have a flaming coffee drink - fun to watch the show. Shop in San Jose del Cabo - it's still mostly a sleepy little town.

Hi Janey,
Cabo is a beautiful place with wonderful people. We stayed at the Hotel Cabo San Lucas (out of town and very romantic). We enjoyed the service and setting very much. It was wonderful. We ventured into town and hit the regular places like The Giggling Marlin and don't miss the lobster at the trailer park (it was tremendous).

I have heard ot the JUNGLE CRUISE..
Relax everyone-- it is jsut the name of a boat down there. A literal 'cruise' drinks, snorkling, music...
My husband and I were there just last September. Our first trip to Mexico. We stayed at Finnesterra. Stay at Finnesterra - great hotel, lots of pools, right on the secluded beach side (not the beach where to peddlers are). You can hike to lovers beach from there, if you like adventure, and if the tide is right.
We enjoyed our stay - but I don't see Cabo as a place we would return to - I would rather explore other places.
going on a cruise costs about 35-40 dollars per person, that is a typical vacation price, not what I would call a cheap deal at all, we didn't think anything was a bargain. BUt then again, you are on vacation - so usually you'd be prepared to pay for entertainment, just don't expect the 'cheap mexico prices'.
Cabo - thrives on tourism (of course!)

Hint -if you want to avoid the timeshare offers (and you will get offers) -if you look it, claim to be under 24 yrs. old or not married.
My wife & I want to plan a a vacation this summer. We are
considering Los Cabos for a week in the beginning of July 2002.

We want to spend the first 4 nights pampered in an All-Inclusive
Resort (in other words-planing to stay @ hotel beach/pool &
enjoy their entertainment/activites while eating/drinking pre-
paid). We are considering the Royal Solirus and the El
Prsidente Inter-Continental. What do you know about each of
these hotels?

For the last 3 nights, we are considering Casa Rafael's. We th ink it's central location (close to beach, marina, downtown) is a big
plus. What do you know about this hotel?

Since both all-inclusives are in Cabo San Jose, while Casa
Rafael's is in Cabo San Lucas, do you think it will be easy to
change hotels in the middle of the vacation?

Any information is appreciated. Thank you.
