Any suggestions for "MUST EAT AT" Mazatlan Restaurants?
I'm going to Mazatlan for the 1st time in April '99 with 3 other friends. We're staying at The Pueblo Bonito Resort (in the Golden Zone) and hoping we could get some great suggestions on the best/most popular restaurants in the area as well as some fun night life places. Appreciate your comments!

I traveled to Mazatlan in Oct 97'.
If you travel well down the main strip, next to the Fiesta Inn, we found a very nice place to eat, I don't recall the name. However, it's right next to the Fiesta Inn on the beach. For night life we went to this big complex that houses three clubs. It's on the water. When you arrive you must choose which of the three you'll pay to enter. My advice is to obviously go to the spot with more life even if the cover is an extra 5-10 dollars. The one we chose included any domestic drink till midnight. As you enter, they hand you a huge cup, and thats yours for the night, for refills. We thought the Margaritas would be watered down, but no, the fumes made my eyes tear after sipping. Have fun

WE JUST RETURNED FROM MATAZLAN ON TUESDAY AND OUR TANS HAVEN'T FADED. IT WAS THE BEST VACATION WE EVER HAD. WE ALSO STAYED AT THE PUEBLO BONITO. BY FAR THE BEST. THE THREE LEVEL CLUB IS CALLED VALENTINO'S AND IS IMPRESSIVE. TRY GRINGO LINGO'S FOR GOOD FOOD AND ASK THE WAITERS TO DANCE FOR YOU. PLEASE FIND GABY THE ACTIVITY DIRECTOR AND PASY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP AND ORLANDO THE SECURITY OFFICER. TELL THEM THE HENRIKSEN FAMILY FROM IA SAYS HELLO. HAVE FUN IN APRIL. I WISH I WAS ON MY WAY BACK.
For great casual dining, try the Panama Restaurant/Bakery. It is a small local chain with restaurants in Mazatlan and Culiacán. The food is great with a tremendous variety from traditional Mexican to Italian to hamburgers. Great deserts and fruit drinks. Price is very reasonable and service is good. I have eaten many times at the on on "la Zona Dorada" ( tourist area ) and the one downtown in front of the Zocalo.

For great food and entertainment try Casa De Country, No Name Cafe,
El Patio,Cowboy Country & Guadrilla Grill for eveings, lunch the snack bar at La Playa (fantastic chicken hambergers), watch the sunset at Los Flores (great two for one specials). Vallentinos is very pricy, if the crowd is right Joe's Oyster Bar is fun. That is enough to get you started. Have fun, we have fallen in love with this part of Mexico.

Good restaurants include Panama which also has a good selection of desserts. There is one in the golden zone and one downtown that I know of. I also ate at VIPs, which is nice, and pretty cheap. I highly reccomend going to the clubs of valentino's and cantabar for karoke, bora bora, and bali hai sports bar. Pepes and joe is the restaurant located between them, and is also a brewery. There is a street taco stand near panama in the golden zone if you want some real mexican food. its open all night till after the clubs close. Senor Frogs is also quite entertaining, and the waiters are friendly.
i recommend mazatlan for anyone looking to party.

If you are looking for a great restaurant try el sheik. It is in the valentino's/bora bora complex. The restaurant has a balcony so you can eat while overlooking the pacific ocean. The waiters spoke english, french, and spanish. Food was outstanding! If you want a good beach restaurant try "Tony's" - on the beach next to the Doubletree. You can sit on the patio and eat quesidillas and sip drinks all day. Great waiters there too... Finally, try going to El Patio - just down the street from the Oceano Palace Hotel. If you are with a student group you can get a good discount. The seafood is the way to go in Mazatlan.
