Just wondered if Bosque provides any toiletries like most hotels? ie soap, shampoo? Trying to keep the packing light. Should we pack beach towels for the pool and hikes down to the beach?

They do provide soap - it's funny as I sometimes wash clothes with it too so as soon as I smell it I think of Bosque.

I usually get a small plastic bottle at the drugstore & put the 2-in-1 shampoo/cond. in it, so I can't for the life of me remember if they do provide. I'm thinking no though.

I'd save the weight & skip bringing towels. There is a big hamper by the pool full of towels. When we went to the beach via the Golfo Dulce trail, none of us brought towels as no one wanted to carry them, but I would think you could grab 1 or 2 from the room if you want.

One thing, we brought lots of water but when we hit the bottom of the trail we were all craving an Imperial and had about 600 colones between us, so bring along a little cash if you think you may get thirsty.

I am a little vague on the shampoo as well but I am pretty sure that they just provide body soap. I use it to rinse out my clothes too. Carrie on Sex in the City would be gagging by now LOL but I bring the 2 in 1 shampoo too. We alway put it in a little plastic bottle as well but with the new security regs...I am thinking everything needs to be in original containers so they can see what is in it. The regs are a joke when you read what people get through security but just my luck I would get someone on the ball. Shampoo etc is pretty easy to buy in CR if you can't find a small bottle in the states for your 3-1-1 bag. If you are checking a bag in you can bring anything. We just dislike hanging around waiting for our luggage when we know what is outside the door waiting for us when we get there.

As tully mentioned, they do have plenty of towels by the pool for the beach or pool use. I always pack a sarong. It weighs very little and can be used as a beach blanket, towel (not a great towel but good in a pinch and it dries fairly quickly compared to a towel), skirt and anything else you can dream up. I use a fanny pack with places for water bottles for hiking and it folds up small enough to tuck into that. When hiking down there I also bring a bandana to wet down and wrap around my neck.

Thanks for the great info/advice! There must be little vendors on the beach at the end of that trail? A beer on the beach sounds great!

Actually, after pooling our meager funds & sending 2 off in search of one, they never found a place. We were told by a couple people we passed that it was 'right up there' or 'right back there' but was never pinpointed. But as we had a scheduled pick-up time, we gave up after 15 minutes. I was later told there were definitely a couple places but were open/closed on a whim.
