American Money In Honduras
This is a general question. You can answer using your own experience. I would like to spend a month in Honduras in August 2006 or thereabouts. I will probably be staying with locals Hondurans and will sometimes be buying and preparing my own food etc. How much money do you think I’ll need in USD to have a comfortable and simple stay there? Ballpark estimates are fine. And I know this question is pretty general. I'm still very much at the preliminary stages of planning. Thank you in advance!!!

I live in El Progreso, Honduras and can assure you that life is very inexpensive here. We have volunteers here working in our orphanage and they manage to get by on about $70 per week- including their housing and all meals. Internet cafes will charge you less than $1 per hour- current exchange rate is 18.9 lempiras to the dollar. Bring only unstained untorn dollars as banks are very picky- use ATMs and avoid traveler's checks as few places will cash them. Enjoy this beautiful country. Ana
