ambergris condo for young people
I'm taking my 23 year old daughter to Belize and we'll spend 5 nights on Ambergris. I don't want to be in a rowdy atmosphere but I also don't want her to be bored or surrounded by honeymooners. We prefer a condo so we can cook occasionally. Suggestions? Does it matter if you stay north or south of town?

If you stay very far north, you'll have to use a water taxi to get back and forth to town. Some people love it up there, and don't mind the hassle. There are some lovely properties up there.
I prefer to be closer to town. I'd look at Xanadu first. Maybe the Palms. Banyan Bay is nice, but will have more families. Exotic Caye is popular, but maybe not as nice as some of the other places.

You will probably be happier close to town, otherwise things will tend to be pretty mellow, especially north of town. The biggest gathering I saw in San Pedro was for the chicken drop on Wednesday night. Try the Blue Water Grill if you have a chance.

Paradise Villas has a nice dock and beach, and very nice pool area. It fronts the beach, and the back gate is directly opposite a grocery and a short stroll to restaurants, etc. You can get 1 or 2 bdrms, maid or no maid, depending on who you go through (Several owners/companies rent them; to see, try http://www.belizevilla.com/)

I found Banana Beach to be nice. It's south of town, about a 20-minute walk along the beach.
