I can't comment much on Cancun because it's not my kind of place, but...get a map from cancunmap.com - it should point you in the right direction.

I suggest you do a search of this forum -- you'll find tons of info about Cancun and things to do in the area.

That being said, don't miss a trip to Garafon park on Isla Mujeres. For one price you get a ferry ride, entrance to the park, and a huge delicious buffet lunch.

Hi! Lucky you! My husband and I usually go to Cancun for our anniversary and for the really special ones we like to go to Bogarts in the Hotel Krystal. It's a little pricey but worth it. It's fashioned around Casablanca! The waiters dress in Moroccan clothes. There's a piano player on a platform in white dinner clothes. The tables and chairs are wicker, and they have banquette seating too. They serve international cuisine, and all the usuals. Some food is prepared right by the table. Your husband will be given a menu with the prices, yours will not have them! You will have your shoes removed and a pillow put under your feet-he will not! The atmosphere is great and we always had a great time there. You can take a bus or a taxi.
I think your spending money is ok, but check prices on your excursions. Are you staying at an all inclusive resort?
We also did the Capt. Hook trip-great fun! You can go to night clubs anytime-just take the bus. Your hotel may offer trips to the clubs-they usually provide one-way bus rides.
Hope this helped. Have fun.
Sue

If you are not all-inclusive $1,000 may be too little depending on how you travel, the number of tours you take and where you eat and drink. If AI and eating at the resort for all meals, it will probably work. Instead of taking $1,000, I would suggest $300 and a Visa or Master card with ATM cash access. That will get you the best exchange rate. Also check out the 2 for 1 discount card at cancunmx.com IF you are going out to dinner. Paying in pesos while shopping will probably save you a little $$ too as the exchange rate is above 10. Most shops use a simple 10 to one conversion so above ten use pesos. ATMs are everywhere and give you the best rate for pesos.

I don't know what you like tour wise, but I would suggest snorkeling with Snorkel Adventure, leaving from Pat O'Briens about 9am. Tulum and Xel-Ha in a day trip are great. Isla Mujeres is also easy and fun if you go early, rent a golf cart and like to explore.

Have a great honeymoon!

Charm, I think you have a good list of things to do. If you are going in the summer go to Tulum instead of Chitzen Itza (ruins). It is awfully hot in Chitzen Itza. I agree with person who mentions Bogarts for dinner. If you can splurge, do it. The drinking age is still 18 in Mexico. If you are doing an all inclusive (cheapest and best way to do) you can simply bring money for other expenses. You can take the bus (very cheap) to get places (bars, restaurants, shopping) and save money on taxis. Tours can be expensive so choose the ones you really want. The exchange from peso to dollar is still good, however, Cancun has gotten expensive because so many tourists go there. Enjoy!!

$1000 for a week?? Forget about it. With all the tours & stuff that you want to do, you'll be out by Day 3. But to answer some of you questions ... My favorite waterpark in the Cancun/Riviera Maya region is Xel-Ha, but getting there is going to take quite a bit of time. My favorite nightclub is The City, the performances that they put on are amazing. I would skip Wet N' Wild, you can do that back home. I would definately go over to Isla Mujeres & rent scooters for the day. Have Fun

I agree w/the above unless you are all inclusive a $1000 is not enough for a week especially to do all you want to do. Cancun is expensive. For my calculations you will need at least $1500 and a credit card or ATM just in case. The only things I can recommend are restaurants but I need to know where you willbe staying so I can help. Good Luck and have a great time!

Best beach in Cancun? Well they're all pretty much the same - sand, water, sun. Assuming your hotel is on the beach just spend your beach time there. One thing I liked about the beach in Cancun is that there are a lot less vendors compared to Mazatlan.

We loved Xcaret and would consider it a must-see, but it is not cheap and if you want to swim with the dolphins that's an extra $100 each. Do see one of the Mayan pyramids, either Tulum or Chichen Itza.

A nice thing about Cancun is that the public bus is frequent and convenient, costs only about 8 pesos (less than a dollar) and since there is really only one main street up & down the main and tourist parts of town, it's real hard to get lost. Much cheaper than a taxi for getting to restaurants, shopping and bars.

Isla Mujeres is fun if you rent a golf cart and tour around the island. It is a small island, so getting around is very easy. Rent for 2 hours and look around. Wait and rent the golf cart after you arrive on the island. We had someone sell us on renting from him on the ferry over and found that renting for 4 hour (what he sold us on) was too long. It's not too expensive, especially for 2 hours. The kids would probably like it.
The jungle cruise was better than I thought it would be. If you have a choice, take the speed boat over the waverunner. The speed boat was more comfortable.
We went to Xcaret when we were down there. That underground river was soooo refreshing that I went on it twice. It takes quite a while to finish and they do make you wear a lifevest, but it is very relaxing just to drift with the current. We did the complete tour where you take the direct bus from a few stops in the hotel zone and then take you to Xcaret. We didn't want to stay for the night celebration they do. Too long a day, especially with young kids. Restaurants - I liked the Captains Cove, the Shrimp Bucket (great shrimp) and La Destileria. The kids will like the Rainforest Cafe if they haven't seen one before. Have fun!
