advice needed-bus transportation in Mexico

thinking about flying to Villahermosa then taking bus to Palenque for a day and a half to explore the ruins, then take bus to San Cristobal de las Casas for school for a week then bus from there to Tuxtla Guitierrez where I will fly home. Problem is I can't seem to pull up any bus routes that say this is feasible. Ticketbus says to routes run on this ITN.
Any suggestions with bus routes or this plan?

We didn't go quite that route, but we took a bus from San Cristobal to Palenque, then on to Campeche and Cancun (actually stayed south of Cancun in Puerto Morelos). We had not problems booking the buses and I think we just waited until we got there to book them. Seems totally doable to me.

Hi, nonstop -

I'm also planning a trip to this area, and I've gotten the impression that ticketbus doesn't list all buses. For example, it doesn't seem to list all second-class buses, and the further out in time you go, the less likely even first class buses will be listed. At least, that how it seems to me! I think your plan should work. You might check the Moon Guide or Lonely Planet for general bus info.

Hope that helps!

This is just general comment as I have not bused in that part of Mexico. First ticketbus doesn't even start to list all the bus companies and routes in the country. Second, I have never been anywhere is Mexico that I have not been able to get where I wanted to go. Also, I just looked at the ADO site and they show offices in Palenque and San Cristobal so you should be good. Here's the link:

yes, it all helps. I think I was trying to put in a summer date so it wouldn't pull any routes. Not quite the friendliest site to use but once you figure it out it makes it easier. Appreciate everyone's help.

The Bus system in Mexico is excellent & will get you virtually anywhere at a reasonable price.

I've done the bus from Guadalajara to Oaxaca and it was a very luxurious bus.

I wonder if I can make it from the airport in Villahermosa to the bus station with only 1 hr 15 mins between flight arrival and bus departure?
