Active vacation - help

My husband likes to be very active most of the day for our one-week vacations in Feb. or March: swimming, hiking, snorkeling, biking, horseback riding, windsurfing, ziplines/rappelling, etc. We've done Costa Rica twice and loved it, but would like someplace different. Suggestions on places or adventure tours? Thanks!

Belize, naturally. Visit both the jungle and beach, add maya sites, caves with artifacts, great marine life, kayaking, diverse ethnicity and friendly english speaking Belizeans to the mix.

Check out the Jaguar Reef Lodge in Hopkins, Belize. Or for more upscale rooms, the Almond Beach Lodge right beside it. http://www.jaguarreef.com/ and http://www.almondbeachbelize.com/.
FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!

Tons of fun. If you like, you can see my pictures and read my trip report at http://webpages.charter.net/cvechkol...zeTrip2006.htm Sorry if it take a moment for the pix to download. Clcik on arrows at bottom to get to other pages.

Here's a link to our Belize travelogue; we loved everywhere we stayed and everything we did - villages, ruins, hiking, canoing, kayaking, snorkeling, diving, rapelling, eating, sleeping, reading in hammocks, bird spotting, etc.).

Happy trails!

You'll have to cut and paste the link, since it didn't all "take" - sorry!

You guys are awesome, because one of Rick's favorite adventure travels was with Slick Rock, Belize Adventure Week (we've also done Belize with our teens). I'm starting to wonder about a third trip!

Have you considered Honduras? You could split your time between the La Ceiba area (rafting, ziplining, horses, kayaking, hiking, mt. biking) and one of the Bay Islands. Better beaches and more to do on Roatán, probably, but March is heading into whale shark season on Utila. A week isn't enough time to head to a 3rd area, but I spent more than 2 weeks in the Copán Ruinas area last summer and loved it. Heading back this summer for 4 weeks between the La Ceiba area, Utila and Roatán.

Also, have you looked into Panamá? Next on my list...

What about the Caribbean? Grand Cayman or Aruba?

The best snorkeling of anywhere we have ever gone is located in Cayman Kai area. You can snorkel to the reef from the beach. Places we like to stay are the Sea Lodges. http://www.sealodgical.com/ and http://www.caymanhaven.com/#reservations are 2 of them. You practically have your own private beach but it is about a 10 minute walk along the shore to Rum Point if you want a small tourist area. Snorkeling at the sea loadges you can see sea turtles, sting rays, barracuda, and tons of exotic fish. My hubby likes this spot cuz he can stay busy snorkeling while I soak up the sun. Also, it is away from the high tourist areas.

GC also is a fun island to explore, go to Sting Ray City, etc.
