Hello all...I've been AWOL from this forum for quite some time now. I switched over to TA because we were planning a trip to Puerto Rico and it had a much more active forum for that destination.

I can't believe it's almost time for another GTG. As much as we'd love to return to BDC, I decided we had to go see the bio bay in Vieques! Hence we ended up with a trip to Puerto Rico to visit Old San Juan, Culebra, El Yunque Rainforest and the beaches of Vieques. It was a great trip, but since we just went earlier this month, we will have to wait to meet you all until at least 2015.

I hope you have a blast...sounds like you will have a great turnout!

Deb - I'd love to hear about your trip to Puerto Rico. My boyfriend is Puerto Rican, but born in U.S. and has never been. We'd like to plan a trip there soon. When are you going?

Hip - We actually went earlier this month. We had 10 nights and spent them in this order: Culebra - 3; Rio Grande - 2; Vieques - 3; Old San Juan - 2. Culebra and Vieques were for beach, snorkeling and biobay. Rio Grande for the rainforest and OSJ for history. There are many other parts of PR that we did not cover. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Hi Folks - sorry I haven't checked in in so long - so it turns out we are not coming. MonicaRichards, I have two daughters and yours would have been in between them as the younger is turning 11 in June and the older is 14 - and seriously into fashion too! But unfortunately, it was not meant to be - we couldn't arrange for older daughter to meet us there from her Argentina trip and then they changed the dates of her Argentina trip to be June 26-July 4 so that pretty much meant the whole GTG dates were out for us Maybe we can do it in two years. I hope someone else from the GTG got the Tucan cabin! Have a great time! We decided since we couldn't go for the GTG we'd do something totally different so we're going to Alaska in August!

Hey Jane - thx. for letting us know. We were wondering whether you were still coming or not. AK will be great, totally different from CR! Hope your daughter enjoys Argentina. I'm not crazy about Bs As, but Patagonia and the Northwest are absolute stunners.

thanks tully! our dates changed by a day. we will be there June 29 thru july 3 then off to iguana lodge july 3. "master planner" that i think i am...lol, not used to doing a last minute trip during the green season and all the flights were booked and/or too early for our flight down and there were no flights back (!) so we are renting a car to drive down, stopping in dominical area and then the same on the way back can't wait to be in CR again! looking forward to meeting everyone!

Thanks Jane for letting us know. Sorry you could not make it.

Steph sounds good, that will be a nice drive down anyway. I'll be a few days before you - driving from SFTS to Carate for a few days before meeting up in PJ and then heading to BdC the following day. Pretty sure hipvirgochick is heading to Iguana as well after the 4th.

Steph, John and I will be at Iguana Lodge July
2nd-6th, right after BDC. Hip is indeed coming to
Iguana on the 4th, I believe. On Friday the 5th its
the Latin dance party at Iguana, and Hip and I have plans
to rock the house down! You are welcome to join us.

Everyone heading to BDC for the get together - have a fantastic time!!! I hope to make it to the next one....I'm leaving today for a huge family trip with DH, the kids and my parents to Europe - our first trip overseas! We'll be gone three weeks. It should be quite an adventure!

Quite different from the tranquility of BDC though!

Anyway - have a blast in CR!!

Jane62, so sorry you won't be there. I bet our girls would have gotten along fabulously. The silver lining for the cloud - I just asked for and received a transfer to Tucan!

That's great, Monica. What cabin were you booked
in prior to Tucan? And what day did you say
you are coming to BDC?

I think Tucan will be great, though La Palma is very nice as well. At Tucan you'll have the small circular deck, and a bathtub! From my stays there, always lots of spider monkeys early (5am'ish) and late mornings.

Have fun in Europe Shelley, you'll have to join us 2015!

We stayed in Tucan before, which is why we wanted it. I took a photo that's been my computer wallpaper ever since (for five years I think!).

Oh, the picture is the one that's in the Fodor's guide in the Osa Penisula section. I'm famous you know. We also got the picture on the first page of the guide that's the red eyed tree frogs.

We're all pretty famous down there. Or infamous, depends.

Was just getting my bag down in the closet and saw a bright flash of orange. Yes, it was the bag they sent us for the 2009 GTG. Thought I'd given it away or lost it, but there it was. It'd be perfect to use if you're lost, you can see that bright orange from miles!

Tully - maybe we can use that orange bag as our "bathroom is occupied" signal at Casa Miramar - lol!!

Wow, I'm so glad it worked out for you to get the Tucan Monica, but I do feel so sad not to be going. In fact I've been sitting here trying to plan a trip to the Osa for the following July or so now, though then that will put me off schedule for the next GTG. Sigh. One of these days I'll work it out! Hope you guys all have a blast.

Everything is booked and I can't wait to get back to CR! Looking forward to meeting you guys We are doing a car rental the whole time because to do two 1 day rentals added a $125. drop off fee each way so it was cheaper to rent the whole time and avoid the transfers. As much as i LOVE SFTS in Dominical we decided to check out some new stuff for future reference and Fodors info. We are doing Villas Alturas on the way down and TikiVillas (Uvita) on the way back and hopefully checking out Rio Magnolia along the way.
Costaricalover and Hip - we are ready to rock at iguana - can't wait!
