2005 Let's Go Guide: MalPais / Santa Teresa map

I just bought the new Let's Go guide (2005 edition). The Mal Pais/Santa Teresa map looks a little off to me - I've never been there but have been researching the area and using the maps on www.malpais.net and www.nicoyapeninsula.com . The Let's Go map puts Tropico Latino near Funky Monkey Lodge and the soccer field and Jungle Juice not too far from Frank's Place. And it looks like Malpais Surf Camp might be in the wrong spot too. Can anyone who's been to Malpais and has this book confirm this? I don't want to rely on this map when I'm there if it's wrong!!

I would not rely on anything in the 'Let's Go Guide'. A friend recently bought it and I found the information less than one can easily find on the internet. I'm a birder and noted that some of the bird / wildlife info was absurd.

The Moon Handbook is good, as is the Lonely Planet Guide. I'm sure there are plenty of others.

cheers

Jerry

Thanks Jerry - good to know. I've written to Let's Go Publications about it. We'll see what kind of response I get...

I was a little disappointed in the new 2005 Moon Book. Christopher obviously hadn't revisited some places and the descriptions were old. He still says Bosque del Cabo doesn't have electricity for one thing and I know they have had it for at least 3 years.
That said, it is still my favorite book.

I too am a little disappointed in the new 2005 Moon Handbook by Christopher Baker. Was very excited when I read about the new edition. Then when I bought it I realized it had the same descriptions as the old one. It is still very informative though. Planning our trip in May of 2005. Our third time to Costa Rica. After reading so many posts here realize that there are many new things to see and do. ex. the eco termales springs in La Fortuna. A must do after reading about it on this forum.
