I'm pretty much firm on going to Arenal & MA. These are two options and would appreciate your inputs/thoughts.

Option 1: Arrive in SJO at noon, drive straight to Arenal (3 nights), drive to MA for 3 nights, leave MA for Peace lodge (1 night), hopefully have time to go to waterfalls in the p.m. Visit Paos in the morning before our flight at 3:30 pm.

Option 2: SJO to Peace Lodge for 1 night, drive to Arenal - spend 3 nights, drive to San Jose to drop off car and fly on Nature air to MA. Last day, fly on Nature Air back to SJO. OR drive from Arenal to MA, return car in MA and fly back to SJO?


I prefer to wind down in MA after activities in Arenal. However, I'm contemplating renting a car for a whole trip or returning it after Arenal or in Quepos and fly back from MA to SJO. Which car rental companies offer a one-way rental?. IF I were to drive back from MA to SJO on the last day. What time do you suggest us leaving MA to catch a flight at 3:30?

There are a couple possibilities, what I'd do myself if go straight to Peace Lodge in rental car, drive to Arenal, leave car in Arenal, fly from Arenal to Quepos, then Quepos back to SJO. A car isn't a must in MA, the bus is frequent and cheap, and taxi's are pretty low as well. MA is very compact. If you fly back from Quepos to SJO, fly on Sansa as it right next to the Int'l airport, I would take a flight that arrives in SJO no later than noon.

tully - Can you e-mail the Sansa schedule to me please, pretty please? It's not posted yet for March 2008, or at least I'm not seeing it.

Thanks, I just checked both sites. Hmm, somehow Sansa doesn't have any flight on the day I want from Arenal-Quepos. I'm not leaving to Costa Rica 'til December, will both Sansa and Nature add/change their schedule? From Quepos-San Jose, Sansa schedules work better for us, but Nature air price is more attractive (I can buy 2 Nature air tix for the price of 1 sansa ticket). Btw, How much does the taxi cost from Tobias Bolanos Airport in Pavas to SJO?
