I believe we can count on teach2travel for that dinner, but I'm not sure the world-famous drdawggy will still be in town when you arrive, marymarathons.
I understand he arrives this weekend. If he is still around when you get here, in about two weeks, I'll do my best to talk him into bestowing upon us the immense privilege of his company. LOL!!!

He may have meant the "approximate" date of his arrival, or he changed his plans.
I'm quite sure he gets here this weekend, goes to Salta to be toured by Angie in her new car and we are having lunch together on June 14.
I'm NOT sure about when he leaves, so he MAY be around when you get here.
I'll employ my best efforts to get him to join us, even if he has to change his return date. LOL!!!

Magellan, catching up with life upon my return kept me really busy and I just read your incredibly well written report.
I am sorry we could not meet and hope that you will feel better soon; who knows, maybe next time we will be able to go out to dinner with avrooster and others.

be6489 - Thanks! Good luck with the planning of your trip, and a happy very early 40th b-day to you too.
Suzanna - Yes, I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you. I know what you mean about catching up on your life upon returning from vacation - I feel like I haven't had a free second this week. As soon as I do, though, I'll sit down and read your trip report too!
Thanks ekscrunchy - I'm definitely feeling better.
Thanks CindyS! Good luck with the planning of your trip.
Scarlett - Thanks - I'm on the mend!

thank you for such an entertaining and detailed read!! i was in BsAs for three months last summer and have been just DYING to go back ever since - I couldn't agree more with your description of how the city *has the trendy spots and frantic pace of Manhattan, the painfully lovely architecture of Paris, the vibrant joyfulness of Madrid, and even elements of London in the gardens and greenery of Palermo* ~ just beautiful!! you're right - its definitely something you have to experience to truly understand!!

Thanks Tim and Liz, and bailey6325.
shnly911 - Wow, 3 months in BA! That sounds divine - I wish I could have stayed longer. It seems like it would be a great place to go...and then stay for a long, long time.
cheers - M

Wow! What a great report! We've been to Buenos Aires twice, love it and plan to return for a couple of weeks in Nov. I've contacted Isabel for help in planning.
We visited a huge grocery store/department store (like our Costco), but don't remember where it was. I know it was in walking distance of Recoleta. Does anyone know the name and where it is?
I did find a shoe store in Colonia and bought two pairs of sandals at a reasonable price. No street lights, but a shoe store. My kind of place.
I'm trying to find details on the forum dinners. I know it's on here somewhere.

The "huge grocery store/department store", "in walking distance of Recoleta" should be the Paseo Alcorta, near Salguero and Figueroa Alcorta.
Forum members' dinners are mentioned in several threads: the lstest is "In Buenos Aires, 12 Can DIne for $649-a Dinner Report" and another one is, not surprisingly, titled "BA forum members' dinner"

Thanks Rooster. I'll look for the posts on the forum dinners.
I went to book my flight yesterday using frequent flyer miles and discovered they couldn't book anything for me in November. First flights I could get were in April. The ticketing agent said Argentina is becoming much more popular with Americans because of our weak dollar in Europe.

Magellan, I just really wanted to thank you for your report. I just printed it out, so I can enjoy it and study it without staring at a screen. I know that I will have a better time in Buenos Aires because of you!
