Actually, they did used to publish some of the contest winners in the printed guides. Even full page color.

Years ago I had a couple of photos printed in Fodor's guidebooks (for which I received a free copy of those guidebooks). I can't remember the details of those 'contests'. The "rules" say you can't enter photos if you have previously won this contest. I assume the 'old' ones years ago don't count?
Also, the rules state: "Photos should be subjected to no additional post-processing or editing, except for cropping and resizing to fit the parameters of the site." Almost all my photos are edited for things like exposure, contrast, light, ('levels'). Those are things photographers previously did in the darkroom. Does this make them ineligible?

God forbid Fodor’s should stump up a couple of extra bucks to post one book to somewhere other than the US. PITIFUL.

This must be yet another example of American exceptionalism. I am a US resident subscriber to the UK magazine "Discover Britain". Not only does the magazine have no problem with me entering their competitions, they provide a US address for entries in case I don't want to enter online. Prizes are vaued in GDP and involve things like a couple of nights in a UK hotel.
But I vaguely remember seeing a similar requirement on other American competitions, so it's not just Fodors.

Another one that thinks that the rest of the world doesn't seem to matter. Why is every competition just for Americans. This is a world wide forum or I thought it was.

Of course, as a practical matter, what country or state will give a fig about regulating a tiny photo contest with a minimal prize on some website? Purely legal paranoia rules.

Didn't even know there was a message board. I've got a great picture from our time in Cinque terre but I need 5 posts.

Tha Kha Floating Market, Thailand, 2018

Tha Kha Floating Market, Thailand. Seen on a tour from Bangkok. An attempt supported by the government to keep the maintain the traditional floating markets----presumably with some regulation ( food being prepared and served in a sanitary manner). This was one of the highlights of our time in Bangkok.

It's not a money issue. Our legal department cannot OK opening the contest up outside the US. Sorry about that, as I said above.
