Cheapest, easiest and quickest usually don't go together. Quickest will of course be flying - try KLM and SWISS. You may have to buy a return (r/t) to get a cheaper fare and don't use the return half. No budget airlines seem to fly this route, but you can try easyjet from Basel to Amsterdam.
Cheapest is probably by bus/coach - try Eurolines. Easiest is going by train, from city centre to city centre.

Hi; If you can get to Basel, as Alex suggested, Easyjet flys non-stop to Amsterdam. Takes about 1 1/2 hours. Dick www.kayak.com/

I don´t think Eurolines serves the Basel-Amsterdam relation.
The cheapest would be to book WELL in advance and to get one of teh cheap SparNight fares from CityNightLine - they offer fares from 19 € in a reclining seat, or 29 € in a couchette. But these fares sell out quickly.

2nd class couchette = $400 (for 2).

guess that's what i get for not planning in advance.
