Zurich Hotel

May 27th 2007 Stayed at Hotel Opera which we would highly recommend. Room was on 5th Floor with small balcony. Very helpful staff and Restaurant across the street was outstanding with delightful staff and scallop salad to die for.

On May 28th we stayed at the Zurich Marriott. We got the room on priceline bidding $80. With all taxes & fees, cost us $92. It was a great deal, and we had a great room overlooking the river/construction.

They no longer have a shuttle to the airport which they did away with at the end of May, but we had a car and their parking garage cost us 38 SFr.

Their Thai restaurant was also very good.

hey budman,

Glad to hear you were at the Marriott. We are supposed to stay there June 29-July 1. But, on the hotel website it says they are set to have some major renovations ongoing. Restaurants, fitness room, and only north-view rooms will be available. Do you know anything about that? Thanks.

Sorry I can't help you. Our room was probably facing West - it was the direction of the river/ongoing repairs/construction of the bridge.

The shuttle is system is a rip off anyway so it's good riddens. I believe it was 25 or 35 CHF per person. You're better of taking the taxi with that kind of rate. Glad to hear that they are renovating the Marriott as some of the rooms are in terrible conditions. I find the Thai restaurant to be disappointing for Americans especially for what they are charging. Thai retaurants are a lot cheaper in the US.

Going back to Hotel Opera I'm glad CA Hikker liked it. Thanks for posting your experience, it would help if you tell us how much you paid for such a nice room with balcony. A few years ago, we had booked a room there but cancelled on the day of arrival as we decided to stay with family in Lucerne instead. I particularly like the location.
