Actually many of us base our decisions re parking not on fear, but on ease. Ease can be defined for some as not spending hours researching parking lots and ZTL zones. Good thing we all can make decisions based on personal choice.

It also helped me with information on other camera enforced ZTLs in Italy, apparently there are over 200 !

So what happened, was the OP able to reach Piazza Marconi parking without violating ZTL?

Or some other parking near the center?

Looking at visiting Orvieto for the second time. There are places I want to check out at the edges on all 4 sides overlooking the countryside, as well as the Duomo.

I believe when I visited previously I parked on Piazza Cahen.

Seems like the cost of the funicular will negate the lower price of the parking garage down below by the train station.
