Since someone asked :

Batobues are public transportation boats on the Seine river. They "run" from april to october, or something like that.

Not to be mistaken for the tour boats, seine river cruise boats..like the bateaux-mouches, for instance.

As Clair mentions, a 'batobus' is like a vaporetto.

See www.batobus.com

They will be operating May 1.

...and you can board one at Notre Dame.
Espesially after you went up you'll need rest. Batobus takes you to the Eiffel Tower too.

Zaina,
It's time to start directing your boundless energy towards planning your Las Vegas trip.

How about staying at Paris Las Vegas? On second thought, maybe Luxor? or Circus Circus. What about Excaliber? no too tacky....well maybe Excaliber is just right. It's next to Luxor and across from New York New York - it's just like the real thing except without the dog....well ...you know what. Plus the bathrooms are to die for. And the buffets. You won't go away hungry and you can eat whatever you want.

Unfortunately you won't be able to see Sigfried and Roy and I think Danny Gans broke his leg or something(someone said break a leg and well he did). I do think that they have an early bird 1/2 price special "Sigfried." It's really their Secret Garden - whatever that is.

Don't forget Hoover Dam.

Thanks Joe G! I was beginning to have some self-doubts. Good to hear from someone I like that I'm as clever as ever (even if I don't wear fancy underwear). LOL

Ziana, I'm sorry I was mean to you (maybe that was in response to your other thread). I have to agree with other posters that you're a good sport, and I wish I had your thick skin. They might be a bit wrongheaded, but your trip reports are a scream. And if you're really from Odessa someone like me, with my five words of Russian, shouldn't be poking fun at your English skills. I'm suitably chastened. Now, time for a pepper vodka.

Ziana, I can totally relate to your meal in a Chinese restaurant, assuming you didn't know that's what it was. The first time I went to Paris (and the first trip to Europe) we stumbled into a restaurant, sat down and ordered the set menu. It was Chinese! ar ar ar

I enjoyed reading your trip report!

>>It's a whole other thing to seek attention in a manner that borders on obsessive compulsive<<

And some people, REALLY know crave attention...whether it's by putting down everybody..constantly talking about all the men who turned gay, were gay or just preferred to be gay... and I especially love all the celebreties some people know....let me see I'll write a celebrety's name...I'm sure someone will have some story about the time it spent with the celebrety..a picture it took..or whatever...

Vivien Leigh!!!

I, too, am quite surprised by the response to Ziana's antics. I don't have the patience to decipher broken English so I stopped reading after the first post. Plus, Paris is my second home and I'd prefer ziana not visit ever again. I also don't think she's Degas. At least, he was clever.

lyb, your hatred of NYCFS is well documented here and your behavior is really disturbing. If I were her, I'd slap you. If I were Fodors, I'd ban you.

I imagine it's very rare for any New York City photographer not to have an opportunity to shoot celebrities (note the correct spelling). Like Los Angeles, New York City is a vital contributor to the entertainment industry and, for many here, working with celebrities is their reality. To you, it may sound like dropping names, to them, it's their livelihood. There's a difference.

You've written of selling a few pictures in some of your lame posts. So, maybe you suffer from intense jealousy. Since you don't know how to spell celebrity, I guess it's safe to assume you've never been asked to photograph one.

I have a dear friend (who's also rather famous) who is a very successful architectural photographer for a very famous magazine. He earns a multimillion dollar salary and occasionally photographs celebrities. If NYCFS is anywhere near this level of professional success, I understand your dismay.

Wesley,

This is too funny...so though my first instinct was not to even bother responding to you...I am amused enough to respond.

1) Hate is a strong emotion....I don't waste such emotion on people who are of no consequence to me.

2) Name dropping? Dear, when you are truly friends and you are not impressed with celebrIties, you have no need to use their names. Do you mention the name of a friend who works..let's say in insurance? No, people you don't think anyone would be impressed by it....why the need to mention the name of a friend who is a celebrIty?

3) I am from Los Angeles, both of my sisters were executives at 20th Century Fox, I have myself worked with many actors and actresses who have been in top TV shows and major top grossing movies. I have worked with top ranking politicians...however, because they were just regular people to me and I have no need to impress anyone, I don't constantly drop their names. They were/are my friends & co-workers, not ploys to get attention.

4) Jealous of NYCFS...sure..of course...I'd trade my life with hers in a second!

5) And you're right, I've never been asked to photograph a celebrity, I'm a landscape photographer and when I did work for celebrities and politicians, my position was more vital to the day to day operations.

And by the way, I am extremely flattered that you are so interested in me that you took time to read my "lame" posts and that you remember so much about me.

One more question, whatever did you read in my post that made you think I was talking about NYCFS...why wouldn't I be referring to many different people...agreeing with NYCFS about people trying to get attention..hmmm...

Have a great evening!

"whatever did you read in my post that made you think I was talking about NYCFS"

lyb, you quoted NYCFS before your attack diatribe. hmmm...are you blind?

Hate is a strong emotion but it was meant to read as "hate-speak," which you seem to enjoy.

Mentioning celebrities in the commercial world of entertainment is not always considered name dropping, especially to those who work "in the biz" (although jealous people outside of the loop always seem to view it as such). A celebrity reference, especially in the creative service industry, is often a direct answer to one's credibility. The same is true of "name" interior designers and "name" architects and "name" hairdressers, who mention celebrity clients all the time.

Since you have six degrees of separation with movie studio executives, you must know the importance placed on "name" actors, "name" directors, and even "name" cinematographers. Name dropping is normal, everyday business in Hollywood. Your altruistic, innocent-ingenue act with all your "top" connections doesn't fly with me and reads like a cheap attempt at trying to "impress" someone. (Sort of like your 20 Maui properties.)

When my friend mentions he photographed that classic actress known for that famous diamond, he's not talking about some ordinary insurance agent. He's talking about a client who gives enormous stature to his level of expertise and professionalism because everyone seems to know she won't "sit" for just anyone. I don't view this as name dropping. I view it as insight into a unique and exciting resume and justification for the insanely high fees he charges. This is the way show business people work. But, of course, you know that, given how close you were to former secretaries from Fox.

Everyone here is seeking some attention. Why bother posting if you don't want someone to read and/or respond? What's the point of engaging in any dialogue at dinner if you don't want to capture someone's attention and garner a response?

I try to read every post by NYCFS and I don't recall her mentioning any celebrities' names in any of her posts. And so what if she did. I'm sure I'd enjoy the info. Fyi, I also try to read every post by Grinisa, Elaine, StCirq, Patrick, ThinGorjus, bobthenavigator, and a few others.

Don't be so flattered because I've read very few of your posts. I do consider myself smart and capable of picking out key items that either stay with me or are worth mentioning, especially if I see a hypocrite at work or someone green with envy.

Well said, wesley, and thanks for the big-brother stand. I'm tickled that you come to my defense and you remind me of PCHsmiles when you do (although, he seems to have disappeared and I miss him).

I have mentioned a celebrity friend or two in previous posts but those threads got deleted long ago. I don't think Fodors is comfortable with such dialogue and I don't blame them. I haven't mentioned my two gay ex-husbands in many months. (Love you guys!)

Frankly, I abhor name droppers and, in real life, I'm very careful not to mention famous friends in public. I'm very protective of my friends' privacy as well as my own. But, here, I figured, who cares? As long as nobody knows who I really am, what's the problem?

Including yourself, wes, and your own esteemed list, I try to read all the posts provided by Marilyn, mclaurie, bugswife1, maitaitom, KS452, Bitter, capo, chardonnay, cigalechanta, BTilke, mrwunrfl, nytraveler, Clifton, ecat, Koshka, indytravel, BrimhamRocks, Betsy, Underhill, TrendGirl, Batuffolina, marktynernyc, RufusTFirefly, HowardR, ira, Giovanna, rex, and the newly discovered MorganB. I'm sure there are others I have forgotten and several I intend to never acknowledge again.
