You wouldn't want to have the kind of memorable meal that came to my mind when I saw your title!...food poisoning for 3 out 4 members of the family! Avoid 13 1/2 Italian restaurant near Harrods...ugh!! I am sure you will get some good recommendations here, have a wonderful, healthy trip!

Well my favorite memory is eating at Spiga, at Berners and Oxford. The best pizza I've ever had.

We stayed at the Berners Hotel and it had a magnificent (high-ceilings) dining room and scrumptious breakfasts too. It was always very busy around dinner, but remained elegant despite the crowds. It didn't get too noisy.

Having a picnic on a bench on the South Bank of the Thames, oogling the London skyline, the busy river traffic and steady stream of strollers and trains rumbling across the bridge to Charing X. A three-star meal to me! Probably not what you had in mind to celebrate your anniversary!

Like Mary2Go my most memorable London meal was certainly not the best or most romantic. My husband had felt unwell since arriving in London from Australia (long long flight) and had taken to bed - leaving me to wander alone. As I didn't feel like eating alone I too turned in for an early night. About 1am my husband woke up having trouble breathing. We walked from our Paddington hotel to St. Mary's Hospital (a short distance) and then waited in emergency with Saturday night stab victims and drunks before seeing a doctor (and receiving very good care for what turned out to be an inner ear infection coupled with muscular problem). After all this it was around 3am and we were starving. We went up to the hospital cafeteria and had pre packed sandwiches and freshly cooked chips. Sad to say it tasted delicious as we were so ravenous. Best of all it was also the cheapest meal we had in London - LOL.

We got some good stories and some good suggestions...Keep them coming.
Interesting how our memorable experiences from our trips are not always the one we planned.

If you like Indian food visit Chutney Mary's; on Kings Road in Chelsea.

On my last trip to London, I had an excellent seafood meal at "Lou Pescadou" at 241 Old Brompton Rd., South Kensington. It is a small establishment, relaxed and friendly, with a flavour of Provencal. Telephone number is 0207 370 1057. If you don't like seafood there is an excellent steak house near Grosvenor Square in Mayfair but I am sorry I cannot think of the name right now. It was recommended by London Marriott on Duke Street.

When you say memorable, I assume you mean because of the food. My recent most memorable dinner in London was at an Indian restaurant called Mela. My kids loved it too!
