Piazza Ducale, Vigevano, Italy.

Toscanini, old and sick, would be taken there to sit for hours at an outside cafe admiring what he called a musical symphony.

I was reminded at yesterday's architecture talk that the beautiful Trafalgar Square used to be an ordinary round-about. They've done a beautiful job of it and for me, it's the heart of London now.>

ditto to what goddesstogo says

and in recent years, thanks to visionary Mayor 'Red' Ken Livingstone's plans the square has been really revamped so that it is really pleasant - the closing of a road in front of the National Gallery and the square now connects the two into one big plaza - and if looking for a Super Loo the city's free public toilets tucked away under the new north facade are the best public toilets I've ever seen! No more having to trek thru adjacent St Martins church to use a good restroom!
