Your favorite (or least favorite) train station?
I'm sure this has been discussed, but what's your favorite station and why?
I think mine is the Haarlem station, with what might be called art nuveau stylings.
Probably least favorite is the Rome termini, only because I was a bit overwhelmed by it.

I like the one in Leipzig -- least favorite so far was probably the one in Wroclaw, Poland (felt like I was in another time/place, either a 3rd world country and/or 100 years ago). Leipzig is just very large and modern and attractive, easy to get around. The one in Wroclaw might be okay or expected in a small town, but that's a fairly large city.

Same as Bitter - Haarlem, for much the same reasons. TAhe station in Antwerp is a strong contender too.
Venezia S.L is nothing special inside the station, but the panorama that hits you as you step out is jaw dropping, particulary for first time visitors.

I think the Frankfurt station is beautiful. It is 121 years old and they just finished cleaning it all up a year ago. Looks fabulous.
Least favorite is Brussels. Have been there a number of times and it is just so ugly and cold and dark. Like they don't have enough money for good lights or something.

Another vote for Leipzig as favourite railway station.
Prague's train stations are awful, especially Holesovice. Hlavni Nadrazi needs a thorough reconstruction (I think it's in progress) and then it might come out as a beautiful station. So far it is ugly and navigation is a pain.

Köln (Cologne) is really gorgeous, esp. when you approach from eatern direction, over the Rhine, with that view of the cathedral.
There are many other impressive buildings: Leipzig, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Dresden..
For modern train stations, Berlin and Frankfurt Flughafen.

Atocha, Madrid. Number one hands down. Beautiful.
Haarlem architecture is classic but the facilities are weak.
Antwerp has been redone and they retained the old main hall. Very nice.
St. Pancras is modern and very good.
Constanta is poor. Prague is horrible. Warsaw is worse. Give them time.
Dresden will probably be good when they finish the reconstruction. Maybe it's done. I haven't been there in 3 years. The new tram system is one of the best in Europe.
Amsterdam is also under reconstruction.
