"None, one Aussie dollar only buys about 65 euro cents these days and it's so expensive to get there from Australia : ( I'll have to make do with travelling vicariously through Fodor's."

1/23/2009

1 AU$ = 0.5067 Euro

1 AU$ = 0.6543 US$

March 29-depart for Siena and Nice. I will be traveling solo.

May 31-depart for Amsterdam, Paris, and Nice. One week of this trip I will also be solo.

September-I have not booked the airfare yet, but definitely will go.
Switzerland(solo), then my son will join me in Frankfurt for the international auto show. Then on to Bavaria and probably Nice. I just can't stand to skip Nice.

August 20 - September 7. We are flying into Paris and returning from Milan. The only thing we have officially planned is to stay in Onzain, France a couple of nights (for old times sake) on the front end and end up our last four or five days in Bellagio, Italy. We plan to totally play it by ear on the in between part. Never have done that as we are always scheduled and reserved to the minute. Going to see if we like serendipity. I think we will.

I sort of envy all of you with all your plans for this year, though I am used to pretty much winging it when it comes to our holidays nowadays.
I have no idea when let alone where we will be going on holiday this year. Maybe in Europe, maybe in the US again. We were going to have a week in La Palma next month, but work got in the way so that was cancelled .
Looks like we won't get away before October for a proper holiday. Still no idea where though.
I hope to get to the UK to meet some fellow photographers in May, - I'll tack on some family visits then, and I probably have a cousins reunion in Derbyshire in September. But a "proper" holiday with my other half is yet to be planned.

It's a great help to see the dollar strengthen! We just spent 5 nights in Ireland for a short trip and will be going to China for 3 weeks in May. This is the first trip to Asia for me!

In September we'll be in Germany/France/Switzerland for another 3 weeks. Our adult daughter has decided to join us for this trip!

We leave for Paris on February 7, and are staying for 6 days and nights.

There is talk of Barcelona, followed or preceeded by a week in a villa in France or Italy. That is a group trip and still unsettled. The time frame is August.

23 days in England, Scotland and Wales in April.

Managed to get FF tickets back in August when the Pound was still rather strong.

Hopefully, by the time we go in April, the weather will be nice, the flowers will be blooming, and the Pound will still be around $1.40!

With the euro at approx 1.70 per cdn$ we will be going to Britain where friends have offered us a cottage on the Norfolk coast. Probably in September. One British pound is approx. $1.80 cdn. and that's the best it's been in a long time.

Our daughter is getting married in Ireland (to an Irishman) in June. So we'll be there for about a week.

DH, DS and I are hoping to spend a few days in Barcelona the week after the wedding. And then DS and I are spending another week after DH flies home. We haven't quite worked it out but are leaning towards London and Edinburgh with a possible stop in York.

Believe me, in this economy and with our particular financial demands right now (one kid just out of college and another with two years to go), we wouldn't pick this time for a European vacation! But since we're going to be there for the wedding, we figure we may as well make the most of it! We are, however, trying to cut costs wherever we can.

Paris from May 7 - 16.
Just can't stay away.
How I wish it could be longer.
I would love a week in the city
and a week in the country.

I'm quitting my day job on May 8 and heading to Italy for 5+ weeks (with my husband), focusing on the Aelian Islands, Amalfi coast area, Rome, a few days in Tuscany, Santa Margherita and its surroundings, the Piemonte, the Dolomites, Verona, Lake Como, ending in Milan before flying back to NY June 17.

May be crazy, but at least I'll be happy. (Thank goodness for the night job!)

May 4 flying to Munich, renting(or leasing) a car and driving to Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia and the Istrian peninsula of Croatia before returning to Munich for our flight home on June 4. We found a good air fare several months ago - $786 DFW-MUC-DFW on United/Lufthansa.

Hoping to spend 3 or 4 weeks in October somewhere in Europe but haven't decided itinerary yet. Maybe the south of France and Italy. I think we'll have FF miles for one ticket.

Happy "Big One", StuT. I'm with you on "travel til you unravel."

London and Paris next month by myself. In October Crotia, Italy and Switzerland with my husband and in-laws. I hope the pounds continue to go down.

Two weeks in Italy in June. Venice for a mosaic course, staying at LO, then Arezzo for a conference (and free place to stay) and then some travel around Tuscany.
