Yikes! Need car help from Salzburg to Munich

We will be on the train from Salzburg going to Munich. I want to get off the train at some town in Germany (don't know which one)that would have a car rental place. Rent a car, and then go on down to Fussen and do the castle area. Then travel up to Munich and eventually return the car. Does anyone know if this will work? Is this a good or bad idea? Thanks for any help! Jer

How about taking the train from Salzburg to Rosenheim, and picking up a car there? It's about a 1 hour ride.

Hi jer,

Are you gong to be using the car for touring, or just to get to Fuessen?

It's 4 hr by train from Salzburg to F via Munich, and 2 hr from F to M.

See www.bahn.de.
