Yet another Paris Itinerary...

Please critique! A little background: my hubby, I, and three kids will be in Paris with some in-laws for a week in October. Specifically, my mother- and sister-in-law. All are reasonable accustomed to walking/stairs/etc. We arrive in France on Wed, spend a few days with family, then arrive in Paris on Sat morning (early!)

Saturday (arrive 9 am) - Eiffel Tower, Catacombs, see Statue of Liberty original (my hubby's pick!)

Sunday - Louvre, Tuileries Gardens, Shakespeare & Co bookstore

Monday - Disneyland Paris

Tuesday - Notre Dame, Ste Chappelle, Berthillion (ICE CREAM!!), see Pont Neuf

Wednesday - Versailles, Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde

Thursday - Pere Lachaise Cemetery, Moulin Rouge

Friday - free day?

We don't want to be super-rushed. We do want to fit in the Conciergerie somewhere too - maybe Tuesday? if not then Friday. We'll also walk around the neighborhoods too, as we are in them. What do you think? Thanks so much in advance!!

One quick suggestion is that you can include the Concierge on Tuesday (it's a relatively quick site) and you might also want to visit the Holocaust Memorial (essentially behind Notre Dame.

Your plan sounds good. The only day I would change is Weds. We were exhausted after Versaille. I wouldn't schedule anything else that day. You could easily do the Arc de Triomphe and Place de la Concorde on another day.

We did one of the boat tours that circled around the statue of liberty. I don't remember which tour it was, but one company did and one company did not. Maybe someone else knows.

Well.........

I wouldn't like Day 1 much at all, if it were after an all-night flight. First off, even though it's October, it's best to get to the Tour Eiffel early so as to avoid lines. By the time you're established in your hotel, it will probably be mid-day. Maybe you could do the TE at night, but I'd put it off for another day. As for the Catacombs, that's a fair bit removed from the Tour Eiffel, and I wouldn't want to be traipsing around so much on the first day. Not to mention I wouldn't want to spend a chunk of a jetlagged day underground (sunlight/Vitamin D helps to counteract jetlag for one thing). And the Statue of Liberty is another fair jaunt. Not a good grouping of places for Day 1, IME.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday seem ok, though you could probably do a good bit more on each of those days if you wanted to. The Conciergerie can be easily added on to your Tuesday plans.

Thursday seems rather sparse unless you're really going to go around Père Lachaise rubbing gravestones and visiting all the famous people there. I've never spent more than a couple of hours there.

Lots of things you aren't including: The Musée Rodin, the Musée d'Orsay (the one I'd pick if I were only go to see one museum in Paris), Les Invalides, Montmartre, boat ride on the Seine.........

You mention trying to please everyone going.....I find that next to impossible!
Consider splitting up for at least part of the time. If someone has no interest in the Moulin Rouge or the catacombs, for instance, it seems a terrible waste of valuable vacation time to go along just because someone in the group wants to see it. You may all welcome a break from doing everything together.

Those are very light sightseeing loads, so you will have no problem doing those things and adding more at random. Please do not plan extra things in addition to your list -- leave the other time free, and you will see that it will fill itself with no effort.

Day one is not immediately after a flight - just a short train trip. We should be over our jet lag by then . Thanks!

Sat won't be first day. so jetlag should be OK.

General comment...minimal time spent on Left Bank (5/6th), I would up that. I also see you are not doing a lot of parks, I would up that also.

The Louvre, Arc, Tuileries and Place de la Concorde are geographically side by side, so I might combine them. In that area I also like Rue Rivoli arcades, Palais Royal gardens, Opera Garnier and possibly Place Vendome. You might also have a look at the covered arcades (Passages).

I'd also (friday?) add Place des Vosges and maybe a bit of Marais. I might also consider a walk from the Seine down Blvd St germain, from one end to the other, with occasional side trips (e.g. Jardin de Luxembourg).

Walking tour might also be an idea. Paris Walks is a good one.

Moulin Rouge..if you must...consider eating elsewhere and just going to the show.

Any interest in museums in general? Rodin, Orsay, Marmottan, Cluny, Jacquemart Andre are ones that are worth a stop.

I would recommend some additions because Paris' parks and out-of-the-way areas are lots of fun. They give you a different view of the city than the main attractions, museums, etc. Whether this is your first visit to Paris (or not) assume you will come back at least one other time--save some "heavy-duty" things for a second trip.

I would skip EuroDisney (but, then again, we don't like theme parks in the USA either).

Go to Parc Monceau (Metro" Monceau), stroll through the park, wander through the neighborhood, and then walk "back" to the more touristy areas via Blvds Haussman and Malesherbes.

Take the canal cruise to Parc de la Villette (from d'Orsay or Bastille--Arsenal) and walk back through Parc des Buttes Chaumont, heading then toward Republique.

From Bastille, go up on the Promenade Plantee (elevated walkway) and walk back at street level whenever you want.

Don't forget to set aside a few hours in the afternoon or early evening to sit outside a cafe in a busy area, sipping your favorite beverage and watching the Parisian world go by.

Don't try to hit every museum or tourist attraction. Try to visit "the city" as well as its buildings. As an alternative to so much walking, try a Seine bus ride in the evening.

You didn't list Sacre Coeur and Montmarte. We loved the walk.
