I agree with all above suggestions. Whatever you do don't miss Auschwitz, be ready for an emotional roller coaster ride. Spend time in the square in Krakow just browsing enjoying cafes, etc. The architecture is beautiful and people very friendly. Krakow is by far one of my favorite cities in the world.

All above are great suggestion. To add Krakow area see Zakopane (about 80km south of Krakow surrounded by Tatry Mtns. In Wroclaw stay in Mertopol Hotel (hotel with charm and great central location). In the are take a trip to Bolkow (near Jawor) to see really nice castle and near by Swiny. Also in the area is Ksiaz and it's beautiful palace/castle with very known horse stables. South of Wroclaw there are beautiful Table Mtns, with many hikes etc. also within the area few spa cities ie. Polanica where ie. you can drink many variaties of mineral water.

I was in Poland last Summer, and just adored Krakow! Save any amber buying until you are there - then be ready for some huge decisions over which to buy! <BR>Added to the above places are the salt mines to the east of Krakow - they are simply amazing!!! Have fun!

...just remembered the name of the salt mines - Wieliczka - they are 700 years old, still operating, but are full of sculptures that miners over the centuries have carved out of the salt rock - simply amazing! It's a real tourist place, very busy, but definately worth a visit!
