What a lovely article! I'm visiting Dijon next June. Articles such as the one in the Post help add to my excitement in visiting Dijon.

Hi carolat
And please don't believe the lady from Marseille who said she had never seen the sun in Dijon!
People living in the South of France always think that beyond Valence (when you head to the North) starts the North Pole! ;-)
Anyway you've seen my pics (new ones recently )

cocofromdijon,
I have seen your pics--which is the primary reason I added Dijon to my journey through France! I hope my photos turn out so nice. I know I'm going to want to move to France after spending 18 days visiting

Thanks Coco, I would have missed that one! We will be staying between Beaune and Dijon , in Aloxe-Corton, in November and this article will be a big help for our day in Dijon

We're staying at Les Paulands. I can't figure out if it's Aloxe- Corton or Ladoix Serrigny! Yes we'll be driving up from Lyon spending 3 days then going to Auxerre.

Almost makes me want to come to Dijon and stay in Coco's comfy flat she rents out! I always consider Dijon one of France's most underrated cities for foreingers - as shown by the Post article.

I agree Pal for the underrated city, that is why I couldn't leave that to the Washington post readers only!
Les Paulands hotel looks nice, I like the way you turn the pages on the website... it is a pity there are a few French mistakes (tell them "accueil" is not "acceuil" ;-) ) The menus look yummy! :->
How long are you going to stay in Cote d'or? Maybe we could meet someday

Actually I wanted to know when you're going (for 3 days). And the hotel is in Aloxe Corton, I checked in the yellow pages.

Lovely article. My first stop on a visit to Burgundy a couple of years ago - in mid-October - was Dijon. I was absolutely amazed at how BRIGHT it was (I had not brought my sunglasses along).I'm from Miami so I know what bright is! I loved Dijon and it's wonderful museums.

Sue, If you were in Dijon now, you would find it even brighter with the new place de la libération (in front of the ducal palace) Have you seen my pics? http://tinyurl.com/okerl
And by night, very nice as well

Coco - last time i was in Dijon i was on a long bike trip and stayed in the campground on some lake not far from the town centre - is that camp still there? If i come again i won't be camping but i'd like to know if it's still there - rare for a camp to be so close to the town centre. If i do come i'll perhaps stay in your B&B luxury flat!

Hi Pal, you must be talking about le camping du lac which is near Kir lake. It still exists there is a nice walk along l'Ouche river next to it that comes from the town center to the lake.

Coco Cherie: merci - yes i took that walk from the camp several times - unique that Dijon has such a large park with lake in it. It looked fairly new when i was there years ago - was it the result of Dijonnaise officials tearing down old derelict warehouses, rail sidings, etc or did it always exist. As i remember it was along the rail line.

Pal If I remember well, I already wrote here about Kir lake, built in the 60's by Canon Kir who was then the mayor.

People who come from Paris can see it just before arriving at the railway station.
