Was wondering if anyone has had the experience of hiring a chauffeur to drive them around on tours and/or to different cities in Italy? Is it worth it or should I take a train like everybody else?

My friends and I hired Angelo Bari to chauffeur us around Rome and out into the countryside to visit my family's home town. It was a wonderful experience, and we paid by the hour. His fax number is: 06 627 7392. <BR>He was at C.I.M.A. Limo last year.

I would take the train where convenient, and hire a driver if you need one. I always have a driver from Naples to Positano. Also to Pompeii, Paestum, Ravello, etc. because I don't want to drive there.

You know, Kelly, I didn't keep any notes on the fare. But I think he works on his own at times and with an agency at other times, so maybe you could negotiate a reasonable rate that would be satisfactory to both of you. Try faxing him your info. I know he had a minimum of hours for hire in a day, but he took us all over Rome and the vicinity and waited for us in the limo. I think for a small group, we were four, it is the best way to go.

Hey Mike,<BR>We had a driver by the name Marcello in Florence we booked him thru the Hotel Hermitage (great Hotel) Marcello was fabulous! He took us to a winery, old villages, Sienna, etc...It was $230.00 USD for all day in a Mercedes. The bus tour was gong to be $170.00. It made our trip! His number is 0333-8578422

We had a wonderful driver who picked us up at Naples, and drove us to our hotel in Positano. We also used him for an entire day for his personal tour of Sorrento, Pompeii, then on to our hotel in Rome. He is delightful, charming, and we thought, very reasonable.
