Left-coasters might prefer to try staying up until midnight or 1 AM to check fares. I don't know if it makes a difference, but according to some it does.

The fares are already back to what they were yesterday, the reduced fares only lasted hours. I guess it pays off to check several times a day.

Thanks Marianna!

I checked Delta's web site again for the flights I booked. The price is up to $742 now at 4:00pm. Out of curiosity I went to Orbitz and keyed in my flight times. It showed on their grid that the $505 fare was available. (Orbitz is a few dollars higher because it includes their service fee.) Yet when I tried to book the flight it came back and said that it's now $747.

I think that's a problem with Orbitz, they don't update their data base as often as I would like. I've checked as much as 4 hours after an airline web site has sold out of a lower fare. Orbitz will still show the cheaper fares available until you try to book.

Yes folks, the airfares can disappear just that fast.

Just incase anyone is interested........I just booked on Delta from Orlando to Paris due to the advertising I got via an email from Delta, "Spring in Europe Sale". I have been holding out for a good rate comparing it to $375pp for Sept - Oct in 2002, Orlando to Paris round trip on Delta. Granted this time we are going during a more popular time, May - June, but I got ancy about there being seats left and booked for 3 on Delta for $715pp. I have seen worse and maybe that is the best it will be until the last minute, which I can't afford the gamble. Anyway after my confirmation and looking at where we are on the plane the furthest back we are is less that 1/2 way, so I assume I could have waited a little. OH-WELL .....I will still enjoy the City of Light regardless!!!!!!! - Michelle

Cigale~~please tell me about Air India.
I missed all the recent deals. We plan to fly NYC to Paris the end of May. In case I have to book the $357 RT fare on Air India...would like to know something about the airline. Thanks.
PS glad you are back on line.

I just booked RT to Paris from DC on March 30, returning April 13, for $390, including all taxes, on USAIR (which I've never flown internationally - hope I didn't make a big mistake)this morning. Saw that airfares were going down and called my consolidator and asked him to check for me. As usual, he got me a better deal than I could ever get on the internet. He told me he sometimes has to "trick" the airlines' websites, but whatever he does, and however he does it, it works for me!

Hi cigale,

Glad you're back on-line!

I'm planning on taking more photos at this GTG. I should have taken way more at the Boston one in January.

Auntgrapes, I know nothing of prices only know that friends who have travelled Air India said service food where excellant, But I have never been to confirm it. I can't afford to travel often so I don't know much about deals as Indy does whom I trust.

Thanks Cigale... I was looking for info on service, food, how things are on the plane during the flight. The price I know is excellent but I'm hesitant due to old info I had on that airline.
Indytravel-have you ever flown Air India ?
I had an excellent quote from Autoeurope but didn't buy on the spot-when I called to buy it was no longer available.

Bravo for you Dave! Very excited for you...and us 'cause we're guaranteed a trip report in the future, with maybe some pix?

Bon voyage et amusez-vous bien!

Hi auntgrapes,

I've never flown Air India so I have no idea.

Hello klondike,

I'm sure I'll put a trip report together. With my new scanner I may put some up on the web. I should give that ofoto or the like a try.
