Wine bars in Dublin
Hi there

My two friends and I are going to Dublin for the day on Friday, and require advice on where to eat. We want something very close to Grafton Street, trendy and youngish, and not too expensive. Don't want a bar type of place, prefer a wine bar type atmosphere. Maybe italian??

Many thanks

Angela

Angela,
My advice is to try Milano's on Dawson Street (next to Grafton St). It's a cheap and cheerful Italian that's quite popular amongst young people. And for an after-dinner drink I suggest Cafe en Seine, Samsara, or Ron Blacks--three very nice bars all on the same street.

Welcome to Dublin.

Hi Aisling

Thanks for you quick reply. I go to Milano's quite regularly at home, so would like to try something different while in Dublin!

I appreciate your help though, and we might try your after-dinner drink suggestions. Are these also on Dawson Street?

Many Thanks

Angela

How about Gotham Cafe on St. Anne St (just off Grafton St.). It's another cheap and cheerful Italian joint that meets all your criteria. If that doesn't tickle your fancy try Il Primo (off Harcourt St), Bang (Merrion Row) or Mermaid Cafe (Dame St.). These aren't Italian but they're all good and won't break the bank.

FYI the bars I mentioned above are all on Dawson Street. Have fun on Friday!

Angela,

My new favourite place is called Cafe/Bar/Deli on Georges Street beside the globe pub. It's in an old Bewleys cafe that was bought out. The food is grat, salads Pizza, Pasta but delicious! It's 5 mins from Grafton Street. There are not Many "wine Bars" in Dublin more pubs and Restaurants. Cafe en Soine also does rfood in the day but its counter service you go up to. Go have drinks or coffee there it is amazing inside... very ornate with the biggest indoor palm trees I have ever seen! I would pop my head in as its worth a look. Another nice people watching place is the Powerscourt Townhouse on the street behind Grafton Street. It's an old building with shops inside but the main area is a cafe/restaurant. At the back entrance is a trendy place just opened called BarMiza. They serve food during the day.
