Lucky me. The rental car company sent me away with exactly zero windshield wiper fluid in the car. Where do I buy that here? I know not all gas stations at home carry it (some do gas and nothing else). Any gas station here? Google says it's liquido tergicristallo in Italian - is that correct? I assume if I get some fluid I can figure out how to get it into the car.

Oh - I'm in small-town Tuscany, Italy.

Supermarket. Shops selling household cleaning products. Hardware stores. If you find a gas station with an attendant they'd likely have it but it might be more money.

Just use water. The only time you need windshield wiper fluid is when the temperature falls below freezing. Yes, I know the fluids are supposed to help remove smears, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for them.

Good point on the fluid necessity. After all, when it rains and your windshield has water all over it when you come out, you run the wipers and it cleans it pretty well.

If the rental car company has an office nearby, I'd go there and have them fill it up.

I wouldn’t waste my vacation time doing that. One bottle of water and you’re done.

Nearby was the key word in my reply. I wouldn't go out of my way looking for a local office. And, OP doesn't know where the container is located under the hood to put the water in, although should be able to figure it out.

Anyone who drives certainly should know how to pop the hood/bonnet and locate the windshield/windscreen washer reservoir . . . and yes, water is all that's needed.

Oh that’s interesting bc our rental car in Germany this month also didn’t have windshield wiper fluid!
