Wimpy's
I haven't been to London in over 10 years, but am going back soon. Does anyone know if the Wimpy's hamburger chain is still around? The burgers are so bad that after awhile you develop a tolerance for them. Kind of like White Castle. Are there any Wimpy's near Earl's Court?

Dear Doug: I've been going to London fairly regularly over the years since my first trip in 1957 and must say I've not seen ANY Wimpy's for quite a while. There ARE burger joints of every designation but I fear Wimpy's is gone to burger Heaven. Sorry. <BR> Joan

Wonderful to ressurect such an old thread.
27 years before this thread, as a semester abroad student in London, I subsisted largely on the Wimpy's egg burger -- a dubious patty topped with fried onions and a perfectly round fried egg. Expect my palate has changed but I remember them fondly.
I was always a Popeye fan and, being a student, Wimpy's promise to pay Tuesday for a hamburger today had some resonance.
