Wimbledon tickets

I'm planning to visit London late June/early July -- is there an easy/quick/cheap way to obtain Wimbledon tickets? I've heard scalpers/touts are NOT the way to go. Wondering if there is a resale company, licensed dealer, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd just about got over the last Championship, and you had to bring it up again! (I live by the courts, and it's a nightmare fortnight)

Heres how to get legit tickets:

http://www.wimbledon.org/championships/tickets.stm

You can get tickets to the outer courts on the day, get there very early.

Touted tickets often don't get you in. Only the debenture ones are transferable.

You can buy these (Usually with some notional "hospitality") from the comapnies who advertise in the Daily Telegraph or the Times.

If you get tickets could you ask them to keep the noise down?

I was at the Championships earlier this year,,,,and didn't have any trouble with "touts". The way to do it, if you want to pay a decent amount of $$, is to find a debenture ticket - as mentioned earlier.
These are not only transferable, they get you a reserved seat in one of the main stadiums, access to all of the side courts and grounds,,,,,AND provide for access to the 'holder's lounges'.
I found it worth the $$ (approx. 200$), since I didn't think I'd have another opportunity to do it again soon, and I was unwilling to wait for 4 or 5 hours on queue to buy grounds passes.
Just be careful who you buy from as you would be in the states,,,,,my "seller" actually sold seats next to mine to a local with whom I had a nice conversation during the matches. This guy buys them all the time like that.
Best wishes.

Thanks, Dave. Just a few more questions:
Was there a dress code for the Debenture lounge?
Did you think there was an adequate supply of debenture tickets available from the touts? Don't want to get stuck, I guess.
Thanks for your help,
Geoff

Geoff - Didn't appear to be a dress code for the deb lounges that I could tell, tho I wore nice shorts and a golf shirt, and certainly others were MUCH more dressed than I. Folks were wearing anything from smart casual (perhaps a bit better than I, but not that much) all the way to full suits and ladies in long dresses.
As far as 'supply' goes, I can't really address that, except to say that I didn't have any problem, and it was a beautiful day when 2 of the English guys were both playing. The place to find the touts is near the tube stop by the bottom of the road (don't remember whether is Wimbledon or Wimbledon Park - but its NOT the one that the busses leave from).
If you do decide to try this path, you might want to set aside a couple of days of trying - picking only one to actually do it on of course - and kind of play it by ear. I'd do it again in a minute, and it really wasn't that tuff! Best wishes and good luck.

The tube station is Southfields, you walk down Wimbledon PArk Rd from there.
