Will UK stamp my US passport?

I almost always get my passport stamp when I'm coming back to the UK via Eurostar. It's stamped by UK immigration in the Brussels train station. In fact, my passport is almost full and the majority of stamps are for entry into the UK (even though I have a UK residency visa). But the ferries might be different.

The UK always stamps my passport. I was in France last January and the guy didn't stamp it at first. I asked him for a stamp and he gave it to me with a smile. Last year when I landed in Switzerland they didn't stamp it so I asked the guy for a stamp. He looked at me like I'm crazy and said no.

I was born in England, but now have an American passport as I have lived in the US for the past 26 years. I have never NOT had my passport stamped entering the UK through Heathrow, Gatwick, Edinburgh, and Dover. I haven't entered the UK though the Chunnel, however.
Why do you want your passport stamped? I love it when I don't get mine stamped. Do you know what it is like to panic because you need a visa and you have no more blank pages left in your passport? NOT fun, sweetie.

Now, since I'm going to the UK this Friday with a US passport, why don't you guys place bets whether I'll be stamped or not?
I'll be flying into Bristol (BRS) on Continental's new EWR-BRS flight.
I will give you guys the answer next Tuesday after I get back.

I love to get my passport stamped! The first time flying into CDG in Paris, I didn't even realize we had gone through Immigration, it was so casual. So when flying out, I asked for a stamp. I got a rather disdainful look, but he did stamp it.
The next year, flying into Heathrow, they did stamp it, I think it's standard procedure there. One of my favorite stamps is the one I got taking the Eurostar from London to Paris, because it has a picture of a train in it. Seems that from my experience and that of others, the UK is more likely to stamp your passport. That time I also got one on the way out of Paris, and I think I had to ask for it that time, too.

I just looked and UK has never stamped mine. Ireland does pretty consistantly and Hungary went crazy with the stamps, both at the airport and at returning overland at the border. Romania didn't stamp it. Barely even looked at it. You just never know.

The thought's just occurred that, if they give you a stamp, they're giving you something that - with today's technology - can be re-used and forged in some way. Of course with bio-metric data the latest thing (thanks to a certain large country), maybe they'll have to start tattooing us....
