Will Trieste become the "new Venice" as far as cruise ships?

<<<<The Day-Trippers Come for Trieste

After Venice shunned large cruise ships, many began to dock 100 miles east in Trieste. Residents now worry that tourists will overrun their city, too.>>>>>

Sorry I cannot seem to gift the story but it's in the NYTIMES....

Poor Trieste. But not all residents view the trend negatively, starting with the city's mayor. I guess check back in 5 years...

Of course it will. A new mayor in a couple of years will hopefully be trying to get rid of the monsters.
It is so sad.

Heavens, I hope not. Trieste can barely manage the Barcolana crowds. I'm cringing just thinking about stupid Instagrammers and TikTokers on the Duino and Rilke Trails. Sad.
