Scooter71, it's because they do. <BR><BR>It's for the same reason that a prescription for 40 mg Zestril is not double that for 20 mg.

Myriam. To an extent I stand corrected. The web sites that you list do, indeed, quote room rates on a per person per room basis. However, each of these hotels has at least one einezelzimmer (single room). One person will not be booked into a dopplezimmer or an apartment at the per person per day rate; there will be a surcharge for the unused bed space. Similarly, the per person rate discourages two people from trying to crown into a room designed (and bedded) for one. Since very few hotels or B&amp;B’s in the US have a room that classifies as a “single” room (i.e., only one twin bed in the room), this mode of pricing has no application in the US. It’s all in the eye of the beholder.

Smaller, independent hotels and pensions in Germany will often quote a per person/per day price, and if you are alone you will get the same room at that pp/pd price as a couple would.
