Hi there

I will be in London in April and my children are already talking about the London Eye. Thing is.....I am one of those people who is nervous of heights and sheer drops eg I cannot stand and look out of a glass elevator. Will I be okay on the London Eye? I thought maybe I could sit/stand in the middle? Any feedback would be appreciated.
Lyn

I was there with my boyfriend just before Christmas 2001 It was lovely!! A very romantic sight, perfect! We cought a flight early evening. I would recommend to book a fligth in advance to avoid queeing when you get there!! You then just find one of the "machines" and register your credit card, the machine then spits out your ticket. Convenient!

Lynn
I hate heights but had no problems on the Eye. I felt a bit nervous as I looked up at it, but once on I was fine.
The floor is solid so you can't look down through it. The experience is more like being on a 'plane.

JPM- The University of Washington bookstore in the U District is the location where we found the book but I would think that any good bookstore with a good Engineering section would have it. It really was beautiful!

Lyn - the last time I rode the Eye none of my traveling companions wanted to go up (bunch of wet blankets actually). I finally talked/coerced one into joining me - but he is really afraid of heights and was not enthusiastic about the prospect at all. But he absolutely loved it, did not sit down for a moment, and immediately upon landing he went in to buy tickets for the next day so he and his wife could ride (she chickened out so he talked another friend into joining him)
