Whirlwind tour of Ireland/N. Ireland - trip report and photos

Well, we finally made it to Ireland last September and what a trip! Definitely in our all time top ten! We toured mostly the west coast and Northern Ireland - taking in the Ring of Kerry, Dingle, Slieve League, Giant's Causeway etc. For a full trip report and TONS of photos check out our travel journal at www.nbhtravel.info/ireland.html Thanks and enjoy!

What a wonderful report! No wonder its taken you until now to post it on Fodor's! Very proffesional, glorious photos, and lots of interesting detail.
Well done to you - this could be a very handy guide to anyone thinking of visiting Ireland. I suddenly want to go back( we went last year in May) and start all over again!

Wow is all I can say- a tour book in the finest sense. We're heading to Ireland for the 1st time on Sept 7th, now I have some idea of what we'll be seeing and what we don't want to miss. Your photos are only equaled by your descriptive words.

Thanks so much everyone! So pleased that everyone is enjoying the story and the photos!

sdtravels: I carry several lenses, but the three I use the most are the Canon 10-22mm, Canon 17-55mm, and Canon 100-400mm...currently shooting with Canon 50D. Thanks, glad you like the pics!

Thanks so much for posting this report. Your pictures are amazing. I am heading to Ireland this September (first trip to Europe), landing in Shannon and making our way to fly out of Dublin. I am very glad I have not reserved a room with anyone named Birdie! What a way to begin your first night. The Termon house looked wonderful, sadly we won't be going that far North.

I love your website, as a light hiker it was great to see your other trips. As I noticed it was missing, if you get back to Bryce Canyon you should make some time for Peek-a-Boo loop.

Thanks again to everyone who has commented...so glad you are enjoying the report and photos.

cmf_1098 You will love Ireland! Even if you don't make it as far as the Termon House, you might check out other properties run by the Irish Landmark Trust http://www.irishlandmark.com/RestoredProperties.aspx Lots of cool places to stay! Oh, and Peek-a-boo Loop is on our list! Thanks for the tip!

bmathes thanks for the compliment! so happy that you enjoy the photos...it is def our passion!

Thanks so much for the link, the places are beautiful! We are booked for each night of our trip, but they do entice me to change our plans.

You are wonderful photographers and I have visted your website a few times since the first, continuing to look at other hikes you have taken (and look back at the Ireland log). Some we have done, but your list is much longer (and impressive). I added Dysert O' Dea to our upcoming trip thanks to your positive feedback and impressive pics.

One of my husbands fav's is The Narrows in Zion. We did the hike up from the bottom so only made it partway, but still a wonderful day. The crowds thin out at about mile 3. We LOVE canyon country.

My dream trip is hiking Machu Picchu and North Rim to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Um...but we need to get a few more, longer hikes under our belt first. Ultimate goal, backpacking....we have only done day trips thus far. Husband is not that far along yet

Velodurt, WOW! Fabulous travelogue and pics. Looks as if you had great weather. Particularly loved the scenes in Donegal and your conclusion “If you’re lucky enough to be Irish, then you’re lucky enough.” Wishing you both all the luck of the Irish....
