Which to go to: Budapest, Prague, Vienna ?
Hello fellow adventurers,,,We are arriving in Budapest on 11/11 evening, and are staying there on a business trip until 11/15. Then we are staying in the area on our own time through 11/21. We were thinking about seeing 2 other cities during this trip - Prague and Vienna. Do you think there is ample time to get a good flavor of each of those cities in 6 days, or should we just see Budapest and Vienna (from which we are flying back out) only instead? We are worried that if we go from Budapest to Prague (a 7 hour train ride), we will lose too much time to see Prague and Vienna in any detail. We also are hoping to take in an opera in Vienna, so that takes up one of our evenings there. Any thoughts? Also, any good recomendations for operas in Vienna, hopefully subtitled.
Many thanks

i would probably try to squeeze in both in the 6 days.
unless you think you can come back in the near future, you are so near them, and definitely can get a feel for them in a few days each.
i have been to all, and depending on how in depth you feel you must tour, you can have a couple nice meals, see the towns from the outside, go into a couple favorite spots and make an opera evening with no trouble IMHO.
see if you can get a cheap flight on www.whichbudget.com between countries to save that 7 hour train ride.

hi,
I live between Budapest, Vienna and not far from Prague (ok 400 km is a bit far). I would definately advise you to see both cities as they are completely different, but both enchanting. I have checked the local cheap airlines, but is seems all have cancelled the routes as it is that close if we take the waiting and getting into the airports into account no one really used them. We hhave the national airline, but it looks to expensive (350 USD) so I would suggest gat a good guide book, read it on the train and go to prague first. From prague the train must be much quicker as it is closer (max 4 hours) so you can squize in the 6 days both. I would divide 4 to 2 in favour of Prague as it has more to offer for me. (this could be, because I live 1 hour from Vienna, so I go there quite regurarly)
Have a safe trip'

Thanks folks,,,thought so. Does anyone know if the operas in Staatsoper are subtitled in English? We'd like to see either Lulu or La Traviata, but would like to understand the stories in order to follow along. If not, and recomendations for someone who would like to see a subtitled opera?
